Book FAQ

What is the difference between the Log Book and the Compliance Binder?

The Log Book is for daily records: water tests, spa tests, safety checks, maintenance, chemical inventory and incidents. The Compliance Binder is for your written plans: safety plan and emergency action plan, contamination response, chemical safety and bloodborne pathogens programs, plus training and self-inspection records.

Do I need both books?

Most public pools need both kinds of documentation. Inspectors ask to see your daily records and your written plans. The binder is set up once and reviewed yearly; the log book is used every day and replaced every 12 months.

Are the log books dated?

No. Both books are undated, so you can start any month. Each Log Book covers 12 months of one pool and one spa.

Is there a free version?

Yes. The free 6-page printable Commercial Pool Log PDF is available on this site. The printed books add 12 months of bound pages, more checklists and the written-plan templates.

Do these books meet my state code?

They are built around the CDC Model Aquatic Health Code, CDC contamination guidance and OSHA standards, with space to write in your local limits. Codes vary by state and county, so confirm requirements with your health department.
